LOWEST PRICE IN THE COUNTRY ON FLAGSHIP WINE!
"Since Oreno’s first vintage in 1999, very few wines have received more consistent high praise than Sette Ponti Oreno. Not many wines can boast a streak like Oreno has of 94 point (or higher) scores EVERY YEAR since 2008! This elegant and intense wine is the flagship wine of the Sette Ponti estate, and we have the lowest price in the country! James Suckling describes it as ‘delicious’ and Antonio Galloni praises its ‘tremendous depth and pure power’ as well as its ‘explosive energy.’ This Merlot/Cab/Petit Verdot blend is a tremendous Super-Tuscan!" – Jim Knight,Wine House (3/13/17)
FROM THE PRODUCER:
Tasting Note: The wine is ruby red with violet reflections and spicy aromas of blackberry. On the palate, ripe berries lead to spices and sweet oak on a full body with firm tannic structure.
Food Pairing: A delicious companion with full flavored meats, game and roast.
Grapes: Merlot 50%, Cabernet Sauvignon 40%, Petit Verdot 10%
Winemaking: Soils are a blend of clay, sand and the stony galestro limestone that is special to Tuscany. Grape clusters were reduced toone or two per stalk in May to assure maximum quality at harvest. In the winery, grapes were hand sorted and destemmed, and the skins were broken rather than crushed. Fermentation took place in a combination of temperature-controlled and lined, open-top tanks, with manual punching down and 25-day maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation. Lots were blended when the wine is placed in barriques and also at the first racking. The winewas aged 18 months in new French Allier barriques and 12 months in bottle.
ABV: 14%
ABOUT THE HISTORIC SETTE PONTI ESTATE
Tenuta Sette Ponti lies on historic land in the heart of the Chianti zone at the end of the Via del Monte, known locally as the Via dei Sette Ponti, in a beautiful hidden valley. Named for the seven medieval bridges crossing the Arno River on the road from Arezzo to Florence-one of which, the Ponte Buriano, is perceptible in the right far background of Leonardo DaVinci’s Mona Lisa-the estate has a storied history. But it has been the dedication and savvy of luxury goods entrepreneur Antonio Moretti that has transformed the 750-acre estate into a multifaceted farm property that is today one of Tuscany’s most innovative, quality-driven producers of world-class Super Tuscans.
