Luncheon With Chateau Pontet-Canet Owner Alfred Tesseron
Monday, January 13

12:30 PM
$99
(includes service & tax)
We are thrilled to welcome Alfred Tesseron, whose family owns Bordeaux’s acclaimed Château Pontet-Canet, Tesseron Cognac and Napa’s Tesseron Estate, for a three-course luncheon from Chef Maike Le featuring Pontet-Canet wines and the inaugural release of the Tesseron Estate Pym-Rae, which has garnered a 97 point score from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.

Tesseron Estate is a new venture for the family, their first in Napa. In 2016, they purchased Villa Sorriso, a Napa Valley estate previously owned by the late comedian Robin Williams who had named the vineyard "Pym-Rae," the middle names of his first two children. The vineyard was planted over 25 years ago in the heart of the Mount Veeder AVA, and the Tesseron family have converted it to organic and biodynamic practices, as they have done with Pontet-Canet.

Join us and meet owner Alfred Tesseron as he guides us through the luncheon and a terrific array of Château Pontet-Canet wines as well as their exciting new Napa release!

WINES TO BE POURED:
2000 Château Pontet-Canet (94JS, 92 WA, $170)

Whether you’re an absolute beginner or a hardened vet, this class will teach you something you didn’t know, or at least were not sure of, in the complex and wonderful world of wine. Participants will taste NINE great wines that illustrate the information presented. The most heard comments after this class are usually along the lines of: "I’ve been drinking wine for 15 years, going tasting in Santa Barbara and Napa, etc., and I learned more about wine in the first 20 minutes of this class than I did in all that time!"

Join Tasting & Seminars Director JB Severin for an entertaining revelation.

In-Store Other Bubbles
Tuesday, February 11

7:15 to 9:00 PM
$49
Other Bubbles, or "It’s Not Champagne!"

Join us for a pre-Valentine’s Day celebration of sparkling wines from around the world. For only $49, taste over 30 sparkling wines – including a couple of Pet-Nats you may have been hearing about!

More than 90% of the world’s sparkling wines are produced outside of Champagne, France, some using the same traditional (Champagne) method, others using other methods, such as tank (aka Charmat), transfer method, ancestral method, or carbon injection. In some cases, the same grapes that comprise Champagne – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier – are used, but sometimes producers use other grapes – Riesling and Shiraz, for example – to create crisp, refreshing, complex, and delicious sparkling wines, and often at a fraction of the cost of real Champagne.

On February 11, compare and contrast wines from countries around the world, including Cremant from the Loire Valley and Burgundy in France; Prosecco, Franciacorta and Moscato from Italy; Sekt from Germany; and Cava from Spain. And don’t miss the approachable New World sparkling wines from California, Oregon, and New Mexico, and Australia.

Soak up the bubbles with some delicious cheese and charcuterie from our gourmet department.

Purchase tickets for yourself or as a gift for the bubbles lover in your life.
