Join an exclusive Wine House Virtual Tasting with Larry Schaffer, winemaker of Tercero Wines, at 6PM on Thursday, May 13. This tasting includes five 4oz bottles of wine to enjoy during the tasting! No one in the industry is more adept at winemaking as well as explaining the winemaking process in a way that everyone can grasp. Larry loves to lead virtual tastings because it’s a great way for people to try his wines in the setting of their choice without worrying about traffic, parking or driving! Plus, enjoy your favorite foods as you taste the wines… with no lines for the restroom!
Larry says “I’m truly honored and excited to do this virtual tasting with the knowledgeable team at The Wine House. I take pride in the wines that I made and I know that the Wine House team takes pride in the wines that they offer. Each of the wines in this tasting is handcrafted by me, using some of the best fruit available in Santa Barbara County. I promise that this tasting will be interactive, educational and above all else FUN!”
This will be a lively and entertaining session in which Larry discusses five of his wines, from both current and older vintages:
2020 Clairette Blanche: This white “Spring and Summer in the bottle” is bright, fresh and minerally — think oysters or mussels.
2016 Grenache Blanc: Aged 16 months in older oak, this white wine is full of texture with good acidity.
2020 Cinsault Rosé: Foot stomped, pressed, and then fermented at cooler temperatures, this wine is aromatic, fruity, and floral as well as the lightest-color rosé you will ever see.
2017 Cinsault: One of the lesser-known Rhône varieties makes a beautiful, lighter textured red wine. It’s foot-stomped, fermented 100% whole cluster with stems, pressed, and then aged 16 months in older French oak barrels.
2014 Mourvèdre, Santa Barbara County: A blend of three different vineyard sites throughout the Santa Ynez Valley, this 100% whole cluster wine is aged 34 months in older French oak barrels creating a great blend of fruit and earth.
ABOUT LARRY SHAFFER
A graduate of UC Davis’ excellent viticulture program, Larry worked for 10 years on the winemaking team at Fess Parker Winery before starting his own Tercero brand. Larry often foot-stomps his grapes and makes his wines with incredible attention to detail. Based in Los Olivos in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley outside of Santa Barbara and using fruit from some of the area’s best vineyard sites, Tercero produces small-lot, hand-crafted wines.
The 4-oz bottles will be available for pickup from our store on Wednesday, May 12. If you wish to have them shipped to you, there is a $19.95 fee to ship in Southern California. Please call the store (310-479-3731) to arrange shipping by Sunday, May 9.
