Due to tropical storm Hilary’s expected impact in Los Angeles, this course will take place on Saturday, August 26, 2023. There are a few open spaces for new students due to the schedule change.

The WSET Level 1 Award in Wines is a suggested prerequisite for the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines course. Students learn the basics of wine in this entry-level course in a format specially designed for those with no previous wine knowledge. It is strongly recommended for consumers or those new to wine and focuses on the main styles of wines available, tasting technique, wine, and food pairing as well as wine service and etiquette.

The 6-hour course includes an exam with 30 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 45 minutes, printed study guide, tasting of 11 wines, food pairing exercises, and exam fee. Successful candidates receive a certificate and lapel pin for the internationally recognized WSET Level 1 Award in Wines.

Study materials available for pick up from The Wine House (2311 Cotner Ave, Los Angeles) as soon as you receive a confirmation email of your registration. It is advisable to pick up the materials before the class on Saturday, August 26, which will be taught at Wellesley Courtyard.

CANCELLATIONS: All bookings are final. Exams are ordered from the WSET in London under the student’s name and no refunds can be made after a student’s exam has been ordered. No refunds after study materials are picked up by the student. Individual registrations are not transferable to another course offering or to another person.
