93 POINTS – LOWEST PRICE IN THE COUNTRY!

"Today we are thrilled to offer the 2013 Emiliana Coyam, the latest release of Chilean producer Emiliana’s signature wine. Emiliana was named ‘Winery of the Year’ in 2015 by their peers, the Wines of Chile. Noted for pioneering the production of wine with organic grapes and for making tremendous contributions to sustainability, Emiliana is one of the world’s largest organic wineries, with more than 800 hectares of certified vineyards in Chile’s best wine regions. Today’s wine, Coyam, has the further distinction of being 100% biodynamic, and is notable for including Syrah in its blend for unparalleled complexity and character. The winemaking style is minimalistic, and the grapes are fermented with native yeasts. This yields a delicious wine that is a true expression of the terroir. We have the lowest price in the country – over 37% off the release price! Perfect with a grilled steak, roasted meat or aged cheeses. Enjoy!" – Glen Knight, The Wine House (6/19/17)

    FROM THE PRODUCER:

Coyam is our signature wine and represents our philosophy and the reason why Emiliana started. Its name means "Chilean Oak" for Mapuche, the original inhabitants of central and southern Chile. Oaks surround the vineyard where this wine is born.

    Blend: 48% Syrah, 24% Carmenere, 11% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Mourvedre, 3% Malbec, 1% Petit Verdot

    TASTING NOTES
    Color: Intense violet-red.
Bouquet: Aromas of ripe red and black fruits integrated with notes of spice, earth and a hint of vanilla.
Taste: Beautifully balanced and full on the palate. Good structure with soft, round tannins. Elegant expressions of fruit delicately interwoven with oak, mineral, and toffee.
Food Pairing: Serve with roasted red meats, strong cheeses and pasta with spicy sauces. Also marries well with dried fruits.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
    Region: Colchagua Valley
Vineyards: The vineyard is located at the Los Robles Estate, Colchagua, Chile. The vines are grown in soil consisting of clay and sand.
Winemaking: Hand harvested between April-May, the certified biodynamic grapes undergo a double-selection process and are quality sorted using a gravity-flow system. Vinification begins with a 4-7 day cold-soak followed by alcoholic fermentation with selected yeasts and regular pumpovers in stainless steel tanks with a maceration period between 20-25 days. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally in French oak barrels. Coyam is largely unfiltered and aged for 13 months in 80% French and 20% American oak barrels.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 92 points

loved the nose and the balance of the 2013 Coyam. In that cool vintage it was a blend of 48% Syrah, 24% Carménère, 11% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Mourvèdre, 3% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot. It mixes cool and warm climate characteristics and grapes and comes through as both powerful and balanced. The palate is juicy, and the tannins are very fine. There are some oak-related flavors but nothing food or a little more time in bottle couldn't fix.
