A LOVELY ITALIAN WHITE

"Bruno Giacosa was a legendary winemaker, one of the finest the world had ever seen, and, in addition to his fabled Barolos and Barbarescos, he is also one of two producers credited with saving Arneis. It's a wonderful, unique and fruitier white grape that had historically been planted in the Nebbiolo vineyards, with the sole purpose of attracting insects away from the more prized fruit. Bruno saw the potential of cultivating this stunning variety into a dry, aromatic wine that has since become the darling white of Piedmont. With spring upon us and Easter creeping up, I can think of very few Italian white wines I would rather be drinking than this brilliant 94 point 2018 Bruno Giacosa Arneis!" – Lance Montalto, The Wine House

2018 Bruno Giacosa Roero Arneis
94 Points James Suckling
91+ Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

Release Price: $32
Wine House: $21.99
Lowest price in the country
94 Points: "This is a longtime favorite, due to its purity of fruit and freshness, showing green-papaya, lime, lemon and green-apple character. Medium body. Crisp acidity. No wood. Steely and fruity at the end. Drink now." – James Suckling (November 2019)

91+ Points: "The 2018 Roero Arneis is a fragrant and linear white wine with plenty of spicy lemon, tangerine and crushed stone aromas. The 2017 vintage of this wine (from a hotter vintage) showed more tropical fruit, whereas this cooler vintage offers more citrus and mineral notes. Bruna Giacosa tells me that she prefers 2017 over this 2018; however, it's all a matter of personal choice. I am partial to this vintage because of those tangy flavors and the wine's precisely linear quality. However, this wine is set to flesh out and gain in volume after the summer because Arneis starts to show its best results in September following the harvest." – Monica Larner, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (June 2019)

ABOUT BRUNO GIACOSA

One of the legendary winemakers of the world, Bruno Giacosa crafted the most prestigious single-vineyard Barolo and Barbaresco wines during a career that spanned nearly eight decades. He joined the family business at the age of 15, representing the third generation of his Langhe winemaking family. Giacosa’s unfailing pursuit of perfection, his unrivaled palate and his intimate knowledge of vineyards in the Langhe quickly drew recognition and helped establish Piedmont as a leading wine region. In 1980, Giacosa began to acquire prime parcels in Serralunga d’Alba, La Morra and Barbaresco to produce wines that are rightly regarded as the finest expressions of Nebbiolo. His legacy rests with daughter Bruna, who continues to uphold her father’s winemaking philosophy to respect traditional techniques while using the best of modern technology. The goal is for each distinguished site to produce articulate, unique wines.
